This Math App has been featured in New York Times, has won the Editor's Choice Award for Children's Technology Review, has been awarded the Top 10 best app for elementary school kids. The program has been so well received because it is a very interactive and slightly additctive. The premise is that you build your own rocket and fly them to the stars, but in order to build your own rocket you must engage in math challenges to earn money in order to buy the parts required for your rocket (over 90 parts available). This clever hook keeps kids active in the game as they want to build the best rocket possible. Once the rocket is built the rocket will fly into space and more (better) games are available in space.
Not only do you get to build your own rocket, but you also get to choose from 15 different avatars, create your own player profile, choose from 3 difficulty levels and be orally stimulated by the lively sound effects and music.
The free version of this app has received 3 stars with the complaint that the free version is a bit complicated to use. The $0.99 app is much easier to use and has a wider variety of games under each category. This app is hours of fun.
The math missions include Numbers, Telling Time, U.S. Money, 3D shapes and Arithmetic.
